From the edge-terminated capsule to the handpicked components and custom output transformer, this mic is all about vintage vibe.
The capsule is our edge-terminated CK12 recreation. The tube is a low-noise, selected 6072a type from Russia. The circuit is our version of the ElaM 251 circuit, made with handpicked, audiophile-grade parts including a custom US-made transformer.
Quantities are limited.
The V-12 is available in a painted black finish with white logo, or a vintage silver metallic powdercoat with diamond 'MP' logo badge.
Power supply options
This microphone includes our standard power supply. It is a zener-regulated supply that is comparable to what you would get with most any commercial tube mic under $1000.
As an alternative, we offer a custom, US-made premium tube mic power supply. These are handbuilt in California. To upgrade your V-12 to this premium PSU, order it here and choose the "upgrade bundle" option for discounted pricing. Note - the upgrade bundle pricing is only available if the PSU is ordered in the same shopping cart as the V-12 microphone.
The V-12 includes a basic elastic shockmount. If you'd like to upgrade to the Rycote USM, we can also change the case so that the USM fits into a special enlarged die-cut. We can rebate the cost of the original shockmount (USD $15) if you wish to do this. Contact us for details.
The V-12 includes a basic XLR7 cable. If you prefer a premium cable, order the Gotham GAC-7 cable here. The GAC-7 uses heavier conductors for the heater circuit, which means lower losses due to cable resistance. This translates to more consistent power for the tube's filament, which is critical to performance.
Built to order
Because the V-12 is handbuilt to order, please allow 3-5 business days' lead time for the build, burn-in, and QC.
