Shipping and Returns
In-stock items will ship to domestic US addresses within 2 business days, usually sooner.
Our custom microphones are built to order; allow 3-5 business days' build/burn-in time.
Signature Requirement for Delivery
We require a signature for nearly every order over USD $199. This is for your protection, to ensure that valuable electronic kits are not stolen from your porch or mailbox. Requests to omit the signature requirement will be honored if possible, but will release Microphone-Parts.com from responsibility for delivery problems (including lost packages).
Custom Microphone Build Time
Built-to-order microphones will be built within 2-3 business days, burned in for 24 hours, and shipped on the 3rd to 5th business day after the order is placed.
During the check-out process, you can choose from a variety of discounted shipping methods: USPS, UPS, FedEx.
Shipping costs are calculated during checkout, based on the weight and size of your items. You can add items to your shopping cart to preview shipping costs without committing to purchase.
We reserve the right to correct shipping-cost discrepancies. Because the website sometimes under- or over-charges for shipping, we occasionally need to cancel an order when significantly insufficient shipping fees were charged. When the website charges too much for shipping, we will issue a rebate.
All orders placed via this website will be shipped from California. We ship to every country on the planet. Multiple shipping options are presented during the checkout process.
If you go through the check-out process in your local language and currency, you will see two shipping options, e.g. "standard" and "express." Both are slow, but inexpensive. For fastest service, click the link to change to USD/English rather than your local language and currency. Read more about these two programs below.
"Direct shipping" means that we ship goods directly to your address, via the carrier of your choice. We currently offer USPS (postal mail), UPS, and FedEx.
USPS 1st Class is a poor choice for international shipping. It is very slow, and does not provide tracking.
UPS Worldwide Expedited is our preferred choice for export shipping. We have recently negotiated significant discounts with UPS. You will see these discounted prices during the check-out process.
Canadians, please note that "UPS Standard" carries hidden brokerage fees that will be charged at the time of delivery. We recommend UPS Worldwide Expedited instead of "UPS Standard" for this reason.
We reserve the right to correct shipping-cost discrepancies. Because the website sometimes under- or over-charges for shipping, due for example to "dimensional weight" billing on oversized but lightweight items, we occasionally need to cancel an order when significantly insufficient shipping fees were charged. We would contact you if this applies to your order. Similarly, when the website charges too much for shipping, we will issue a rebate.
Indirect shipping via WebInterpret / Glopal
"Indirect shipping" is a 2-stage shipping solution; we send your goods to a shipping depot. The depot then forwards your package to its final delivery address.
The indirect shipping process is slow, even for the option named "express." The reason is that we first ship your order to the depot; this takes 2-6 days depending on the USPS. The depot can take up to 4 days to process an order. Export shipping from the depot can take up to 45 days depending on the class of service.
If you go through the check-out process on our website in your local language and currency, e.g. German and EUR, then you are seeing only these "indirect" shipping options. To access direct shipping via postal mail, UPS, and FedEx, find the link on the shopping cart pages to the USD/English version of the page.
Our indirect shipping system is provided by WebInterpret, in partnership with PayPal.com. PayPal subsidizes the shipping costs in exchange for forcing customers to pay via the Paypal service. Some customers appreciate the deep discounts on shipping fees provided by this service. As we have stated, the trade-off is that shipping can be slow.
If you use this program, you will receive several emails with order status. Emails sent by MicParts.com will show tracking information from the USPS. The delivery address is within the US, usually in the state of Pennsylvania. That is the address of the WebInterpret shipping depot.
You will also receive emails directly from GLOPAL.COM, which is a WebInterpret domain. These messages will provide a second and completely independent tracking URL. That URL will show the progress of the package once it leaves the WebInterpret shipping depot.
MicParts cannot track your packages once they are delivered to the Glopal shipping depot. Please consult the emails sent to you by that system for updated tracking information.
Can you declare my order as a "gift" and mark the Customs value as $1?
No. That is considered fraud by the US government. We declare full value on all international shipments.
Will I pay taxes upon delivery?
If your country of residence imposes import fees, duty, or VAT, you will be charged by the postal carrier upon delivery. We are not experts on the import fees for every country; if you are not familiar with your country's import policies, please research the matter before placing your order.
Our label generating software sends a shipping confirmation email with tracking information at the time your order is processed. Occasionally, the email is not sent due to an intermittent communications failure between the label system and the order processing system. If you have not received tracking information within 48 hours of placing the order, contact us via email to request the tracking number.
All outbound shipments have tracking numbers, whether for USPS, UPS, or FedEx.
If you use a "throwaway" or "burner" email address for online transactions, you will not receive the tracking number. For security reasons, we cannot share tracking numbers to other email addresses. We do not sell or share your email address, so we recommend using a real address rather than a fake one.
Please note that USPS tracking information is often inaccurate and/or delayed, especially regarding international shipments. USPS "1st Class" tracking stops at the US border. If you desire door-to-door tracking, especially for international shipments, please request UPS Worldwide Expedited or FedEx International services during checkout.
Capsules and kits that have not been installed can be returned within 14 days for a refund, less a 10% restocking fee. Buyer pays return shipping. The fee covers covers the costs of checking products back in to inventory.
Microphone grilles can be returned within 30 days. Returns are charged a 5% restocking fee, or the cost of subsidized outbound shipping, whichever is greater.
Our microphones and other completed electronic components (including power supplies) are warranted against defects for 30 days. Returns are charged a 5% restocking fee, assuming the items are returned in like-new condition. Worn, used, or abused items will be assessed a fee for refurbishment.
