It's time to clear out the warehouse of prototypes, custom mic builds, b-stock, and refurbs! Everything here is discounted well below its value; this list has the best deals we've offered in years. Several of these mics are priced below the cost of parts, if you were to build it yourself.

12 mics have sold; 10 remain (as of this writing).

The letters A-Z were arbitrarily assigned for the sole purpose of identifying which mic goes with which photo(s).

Each mic has a 45-day warranty.

Mic K is a Focusrite Scarlett Studio, upgraded with the EXF1 circuit and TSB2555 capsule. Functionally, this is identical to our T-25 Microphone ($339). We include a swivel mount and zipper pouch. Note: this mic is compatible with this shockmount.

Mic R is an old prototype S-25 microphone ($349) built into a first-generation mic body with a silver finish. The end cap is black. The mic includes a swivel mount and plastic clamshell case.

Mic V is a modified Apex 435 with our ETL1 circuit and TSB-2555 capsule; it is essentially the same as the MicParts S-25 ($349) in 3rd-party mic body. It includes a silver swivel mount.

Mics A, B, and C are Studio Projects C1, of varying generations. Please note: All three mics have our "MP" diamond logo badge, applied after photos were taken.

  • Mic A is a first-generation C1 (cobranded 797 Audio), with no switches. This mic is in excellent cosmetic condition. It has an early version of what would later be called our "Platinum" edition circuit mod, which is a $299 service.
  • Mic B is a 797 Audio C1 with a single switch to enable either pad or HPF. The mic has minor scratches on the body. The circuit includes our "U87 EQ" circuit mod; the mic has been tuned by hand. We also rebuilt the input circuit to direct-couple the capsule to the circuit, which provides a cleaner audio signal path at a critical point of the circuit. Value: $160 for the donor mic + $199 for the upgrade = $349 (a bargain for a mic that goes head to head with a $3500 U87).
  • Mic C is a third-generation Red Badge C1 with two switches (3-way pad switch, separate 3-way HPF switch). The mic has minor scratches on the body. The circuit includes our "U87 EQ" circuit mod; the mic has been tuned by hand. We have also upgraded all the electrolytic capacitors to our own bespoke audio-grade capacitors.

Mic F is a brand new MicParts Multitrack Microphone ($1299); it includes a Y-cable to split the mic's 5-pin output to two XLR3M connectors for plugging in to two preamps or two interface channels. (You could optionally upgrade to our hand-built Gotham/Neutrik Y-cable.) The Multitrack Mic allows recording the front and rear sides of the mic simultaneously to 2 tracks, which enables you to create any polar pattern (Omni, Cardioid, Fig8 or any intermediate pattern) for that performance later, during the mix process. This mic is finished in a beautiful custom blue metallic powdercoat. This discounted bundle deal does not include a shockmount; the compatible mount is not normally sold separately, although if you order this Cutaway mount with the mic, we'll supply the version of the Cutaway mount that is actually compatible with this mic.

Mic G is a Groove Tubes GT55 modified with the T84-55 circuit kit and an RK-47C capsule. The mic's pad and filter switches are supported by the new circuit. Value: $125 for the donor mic, $229 for the circuit kit, $99 for the capsule, $125 for the build, $69 for the bundled Cutaway shockmount = $647. Included: zipper pouch, Cutaway shockmount. This mic is essentially identical to our T-47 ($599), with external switches for pad and filter rather than internal switches for pad and Omni.

Mic H is a new MXL CR78. We gutted the mic and installed our high-performance MP-V57 transformerless circuit and a special RK-12 capsule reserved from an early production run, circa 2016. The mic has an internal pad switch. Value: $38 for the donor mic, $149 for the circuit, $129 for the capsule, $125 for the build = $441. The mic ships in original CR78 packaging with an MXL swivel mount. If you'd like to upgrade the mic's mount, this mic is compatible with this shockmount

Mic J is a new MicParts T-12 ($599), built to verify a new production run of PCBs. It has internal switches for pad and pattern (cardioid/omni). The mic has minor cosmetic blemishes (light scratches) on the end cap at the bottom of the mic. It ships in a zipper pouch with a swivel mount. If you'd like to upgrade the mic's mount, this mic is compatible with this shockmount

Mic T is a one-off custom that combines our high-performance V57 transformerless circuit with an RK-12 capsule. The circuit has a pad switch, located inside the mic. The circuit's response is linear, which means it retains all the "air" generated by the capsule. The frequency response is very smooth, within 1.4dB up to 14kHz! This mic has high output, so it will excel on voices and acoustic guitar but won't be happy on loud cabinets or drum overheads (although it does have a pad switch, so it should work on moderately loud sources). It would make a great VO mic due to the very low noise floor.  This is basically our S-12 ($579) in a smaller mic body. It ships with a zipper pouch and heavy duty swivel mount. The body has minor cosmetic blemishes.

Mic Y was a Sterling ST77, although the only parts of the original mic that remain are the body and chassis. We've replaced the capsule with our exclusive K67, and the circuit with our T-84 (based on the Neumann KM84), using our custom transformer. The grille is our own tapered 60mm design, significantly more attractive than the stock grille which is ridiculously tall. The finished mic will be great for VO, vocals, acoustic guitar, any acoustic strings. The mic has a flat response (within 1dB) to 8.5kHz, with a gentle lift centered at 10kHz (peaking at +1.7dB). This mic does not include a shockmount; the compatible mount is not normally sold separately, although if you order this Cutaway mount with the mic, we'll supply the version of the Cutaway mount that is actually compatible with this mic. This mic is essentially our T-67 ($599) without the omni pattern switch, in a larger housing. The donor mic was purchased used, and shows signs of heavy wear; if we were keeping it we'd repaint it.

Mic Z is a Groove Tubes GT55 modified with the T84-55 circuit kit and an RK-47C capsule. This mic has 2.5dB higher output than the other GT55/RK-47 mic in this sale (Mic G); if you compensate for the level delta via preamp gain, these two mics would be matched (meaning the frequency response is within 1dB from 20 Hz - 20kHz once you add 2.5dB of gain to this mic).
