About the Mod
Our comprehensive upgrade for these mics replaces the entire signal path.
We install our MP-V57 circuit, which is a design we've been upgrading and optimizing for over 10 years. The new circuit reduces the mic's noise and distortion dramatically, due both to our premium components and to design improvements in the circuit topology. The new circuit has higher sensitivity than the stock design, which improves the mic's signal to noise ratio.
We replace the mic's stock capsule (which is typically either a small-diaphragm design with remarkably uneven high-frequency response, or a 32mm K67 that tends to be thin in the bass and exaggerated in the sibilance band); you can choose the mic's new voicing by selecting the RK-47, RK-12, or RK-87. (See these notes on capsule selection.)
How it works
After you buy this service, see our Service Policies page for instructions on packing and shipping your mic. Be sure to print the Service Request form linked from that page.
The typical turnaround time is 5 business days. We can provide more detailed turnaround time estimates after you purchase the service.
Because this upgrade replaces the mic's entire signal path, it can be used on microphones that are noisy or even dead.
Costs
The mod service includes the parts, installation, testing, and return shipping (domestic US only) from our shop back to you.
Availability
This mod service is open to US residents only.
(Residents of other countries might find that it costs less to purchase a finished microphone.)
