Chem-Wik 10-5L Desoldering Braid

This is the desoldering braid (aka "solder wick") we have used in our shop for years: Chem-Wik #4. The braid itself is oxygen-free copper, impregnated with rosin. This works significantly better than non-rosin braid, in our experience; the rosin content helps heat flow into the solder joint quickly, and helps the solder to flow back into the wick. Together these effects reduce the heat exposure for the components, which prevents heat damage. 

The width of the braid is 0.1 inches (2.54mm). The length of the braid in this spool is 5' (~1.5m).
